Replace a Lost, Stolen, or Damaged Driver's Licence
Get a replacement licence in person at any ServiceOntario centre. You will walk out with a temporary licence and your new card arrives by mail.
Where Are You Right Now?
The process is different depending on whether you are in Ontario or not.
If Your Licence Was Stolen
Replace In Person (In Ontario)
Replace from Outside Ontario
If your Ontario licence is valid (not cancelled or suspended), you can request a one-time temporary paper licence to be mailed to your out-of-province address. Submit an online request through ServiceOntario. The temporary licence will arrive within 1 to 2 weeks. When you return to Ontario, visit a ServiceOntario centre to have a new permanent card issued.
You can replace your licence with your current photo and expiry date, as long as your licence is valid. Submit an online request, then email or fax a signed Signature Authorization Form along with a Credit Card Authorization Form or payment by cheque or money order. The new card will be mailed to your out-of-province address within 4 to 6 weeks.
You can also send a signed letter by email or fax with your driver's licence number (or full name and date of birth if you do not know the number), your out-of-province mailing address, and payment.

Payment: Visa, Mastercard, cheque, or money order. American Express, Visa Debit, and Mastercard Debit are not accepted for mail/fax requests.
